Obverse description Facing lion head rendered in bold, high relief against an irregular electrum flan, occupying virtually the entire obverse field. The leonine visage is depicted frontally with deeply modelled facial musculature, open jaws, and a broad muzzle conveying powerful archaic expressiveness. A stylized mane is indicated by radiating ridges framing the crown of the head, with vestigial floral or vegetal elements visible at the upper field. The die work is characteristic of early Ionian archaic coinage, displaying vigorous if somewhat schematic craftsmanship consistent with the late seventh to early sixth century BC tradition. No legend or inscription is present.
