| Beschrijving voorzijde | Pegasus depicted in dynamic flight to the left, with elaborately rendered wings spread upward and forelegs raised in a prancing attitude. The musculature and feather detailing of the wings are finely modelled in high relief, reflecting the accomplished engraving tradition of archaic Corinth. Below the body of Pegasus appears the koppa (Ϙ), the archaic Greek letter serving as the mint control mark and initial letter of Korinth. The flan is broad and irregular, characteristic of early Corinthian coinage of the archaic period. |
