正面描述 The winged horse Pegasus depicted in full flight to the left, rendered with finely detailed musculature and outstretched wings rising above the body in high relief. The creature's forelimbs are extended in a dynamic galloping posture, with the tail arching upward toward the right. The Corinthian city-badge koppa (Ϙ) appears in the lower field beneath the body, serving as the mint control mark. The composition fills the flan with characteristic Corinthian artistic confidence, the figure boldly modelled against an uncluttered field.

附加信息

Corinthian staters of this period circulated far beyond the Greek mainland — they were among the most widely accepted trade coins in the western Mediterranean, found in hoards from Sicily to the Adriatic coast. Corinth's commercial reach meant these coins functioned almost as an international currency, accepted by merchants who had never set foot in the issuing city. The type remained so trusted that Philip II of Macedon and later Alexander used Corinthian weight standards as a reference point when designing their own silver issues.

Ravel's classification distinguishes late-series dies by subtle variations in the pegasus's wing position, making precise attribution dependent on a careful die study rather than casual inspection.
