背面描述 Pegasus, the winged horse, depicted rearing to the right in a dynamic and energetic pose with both forelegs raised. The creature's large, feathered wings are spread prominently to the left, rendered with detailed layered feathers in high relief. The musculature of the horse's body is naturalistically modelled, with the tail extending downward and the hind legs braced against the ground. A small head with a bridle or diadem-like feature is visible atop the neck. The field is plain and uninscribed, consistent with the standard Lampsakene gold stater type of this period.

附加信息

Lampsakos was among the most prolific producers of gold staters in the eastern Aegean during the fourth century, operating under Persian suzerainty following the King's Peace of 387 BC — the treaty that formally handed the Greek cities of Asia Minor back to Achaemenid control. The mint's output during this period was likely tied to regional commerce along the Hellespont, a strait Lampsakos sat directly beside and effectively taxed through its position. Production ceased abruptly when Alexander crossed into Asia Minor in 334 BC and reorganized the monetary economy of the entire region.
