正面描述	A griffin seated to right upon a ground line above an egg-and-dart frieze, depicted with open jaws, raised left foreleg, and prominent wing. The creature's powerful leonine haunches and aquiline head are rendered in the archaic Ionian style characteristic of early fifth-century BC Tean coinage. A grain kernel appears in the right field. The ethnic inscription ΤΗΙΟΝ is distributed around the type, identifying the issuing city of Teos.
