Obverse description Pegasus in full flight to the left, rendered with elegantly striated wings spread upward and all four legs extended in a galloping posture, conveying vigorous motion. The musculature of the winged horse is finely modelled in high relief against a flat, unadorned field. Below the figure, in the lower field, appears the Greek letter Λ (lambda), serving as the civic initial of Leukas. The design is characteristic of the Corinthian stater tradition adopted by western Greek colonies, executed in the bold archaic-to-early classical style.
