| Beschrijving voorzijde | Boeotian shield depicted face-on, rendered in high relief against a flat field. The characteristic cutout side-wings of the shield are clearly delineated, and the outer rim is divided into twelve incised segments, imitating the stitched leather edging of an actual Boeotian shield. The central boss of the shield is rendered in a smooth, convex form. The design is boldly executed in the archaic Greek style, filling the flan. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Forepart of a bridled horse facing right, depicted in profile with fine archaic engraving detail, the bridle clearly rendered. The legend TANA is disposed anticlockwise around the design beginning at the upper right, the letters in the Greek alphabet. The entire design, including the horse and inscription, is contained within a square incuse punch, a characteristic feature of early Greek coinage. The execution is typical of Boeotian mint output from the mid-fifth century BC. |
