| Obverse description | Head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, with a prominent cheek guard and crest rendered in fine detail. The goddess's facial features are rendered in the classical Greek style, with a well-defined profile, almond-shaped eye, and slightly parted lips. Locks of hair curl beneath the helmet bowl and fall along the neck. The field is plain, with no legend or additional devices. The engraving reflects the accomplished die-cutting tradition of Magna Graecia workshops of the late 4th century BC. |
