| Beschrijving keerzijde | A slinger strides vigorously to the right, his body turned in three-quarter view as he prepares to release a sling-bolt, with the sling drawn back over his shoulder in a dynamic pose. The figure is rendered in the energetic, linear style typical of late Classical Pamphylian coinage. In the right field, a triskeles appears in the upper portion and a club in the lower portion, both serving as civic or magistrate symbols associated with Aspendos. The ethnic legend EΣTFEΔIY runs in the field, representing an archaic rendering of the city's name in local Greek dialect. The reverse design as a whole reflects Aspendos's identity as a prosperous athletic and commercial city of Pamphylia. |
