Obverse description Pegasos depicted in full flight to the right, with wings raised and spread in a dynamic posture, forelegs extended forward and hindquarters well-modelled in high relief. The creature's musculature and feathering are rendered with fine archaic detail characteristic of Corinthian-tradition coinage. The Greek letter Alpha (Α), serving as the city-initial of Ambracia, appears prominently in the lower field beneath the body of Pegasos.
