The bird is perched atop a rocky exergual base, its wings folded, with head turned slightly to face the viewer. To the left of the eagle, a caduceus is depicted upright in the field, serving as a secondary symbol. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square, with the flan exhibiting the irregular, slightly scalloped edge typical of hand-struck coinage of Magna Graecia. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Central type depicting the tripod of Apollo, the principal civic emblem of Kroton, rendered in bold relief with three legs resting on a decorated base and a cauldron surmounted by a corona or wreath finial. To the left of the tripod, a forepart of a bull facing left is shown in high relief, an allusion to the city's Achaean heritage. To the right, the ethnic legend ϘPO is inscribed in archaic Greek characters, read downward. The composition is enclosed within a shallow incuse square with a beaded or toothed inner border, consistent with the monetary conventions of Bruttian coinage in the late Classical period. |
