Soloi was one of the most hellenized cities of Cilicia, founded according to tradition by colonists from Rhodes and later from Lindos, and its coinage from this period reflects a mint operating under shifting Persian satrapal authority while maintaining strong Greek cultural identity. The weight standard used here — heavy enough to place this stater firmly within the Persic tradition — was common across Cilician mints as a practical accommodation to regional trade networks dominated by Persian administrative infrastructure.
SNG France 179–181 documents only a narrow die range for this type, suggesting limited output over the roughly thirty-five year window of issue.
