Reverse description A dolphin swimming to the right, depicted in profile within a recessed incuse square, a hallmark of early Greek coinage technique. The ethnic inscription ΛΙΝΔΙΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of Lindos, is divided across the field with ΛΙ-Ν above and ΙΟΙΔ below the dolphin, rendered in archaic Greek characters. The incuse square is deeply struck and clearly defined, with the legend distributed symmetrically around the central type. The reverse fabric reflects the characteristic shallow incuse punch technique of late archaic Rhodian silver issues.
