| Beschrijving voorzijde | Pegasus in flight to the left, depicted with large spread wings and a curling, bridled head raised upward; the foreleg is raised and the hindquarters are powerfully rendered in high relief. The mythological winged horse is rendered in the Corinthian tradition characteristic of Akarnanian coinage, with bold and assured engraving. The field is plain and the flan shows the typical irregular edges of a hammered ancient silver coin. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Alyzia was a small Akarnanian polis on the western Greek coast, notable chiefly as the site of a sanctuary of Herakles and as a modest naval staging point. The Akarnanians operated as a league rather than a unified state through much of this period, yet individual cities retained the right to strike their own coinage — a decentralized arrangement that produced significant variety across the region's silver issues.
The BCD Akarnania reference points to the landmark collection assembled by a single private collector whose Akarnanian holdings, sold at Leu in 2002, remain the definitive die study for the series.
