| Descrizione del dritto | Land tortoise depicted in high relief, viewed from above, centrally placed within the flan. The carapace displays a distinctive segmented pattern of large, rounded scutes arranged symmetrically, with the marginal scutes forming a clearly delineated border around the shell. The head, four limbs, and tail of the tortoise are rendered in fine detail extending beyond the carapace edges. The naturalistic style is characteristic of the mature Aeginetan coinage of the mid-fifth century BC, replacing the earlier sea turtle type. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Deeply incuse square divided by a skew pattern of raised ridges forming five irregular compartments, commonly described as a mill-sail or windmill incuse design. The incuse is struck with considerable depth, creating a bold geometric composition of alternating raised and recessed triangular and trapezoidal sections. This characteristic reverse type is a hallmark of Aeginetan coinage throughout the archaic and classical periods, evolving from the earlier simple incuse square. The field within each compartment is smooth and lightly granular. |
