Reverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing left, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with carefully delineated facial features. Behind the neck guard of the helmet, a forepart of a griffin in flight to the left is depicted as a secondary device, a distinctive iconographic element characteristic of Leukadian staters of this period. The composition is elegantly balanced within the round flan, with the goddess's portrait occupying the central field and the griffin protome positioned in the upper left quadrant behind the helmet.
