The city sat at the western terminus of what would later become the Via Egnatia, making it a critical transit point for Adriatic trade and giving its silver exceptional circulation reach into the Illyrian interior. Coins from this mint have turned up in hoards stretching from Epirus to the middle Danube. The Pegasi reference remaining unassigned suggests this piece has not yet been fully attributed to a specific die pairing within the corpus.
