| Beschrijving keerzijde | A triskeles motif — three bent legs radiating symmetrically from a central point — occupies the centre of a deep incuse square, the hallmark reverse type of early Aspendian staters. The three legs are rendered in fine relief within the incuse, with the rotation conveying dynamic movement. The Greek letters Ε, Σ, Τ, and F (digamma) are disposed in the four quadrants surrounding the triskeles, representing an early abbreviated form of the city's name (ΕΣΤFΕΔΙΙΥΣ, i.e. Estwediiys, the local Pamphylian rendering of Aspendos). The incuse square has a slightly irregular, hand-cut appearance consistent with hammered archaic coinage technique. |
