Reverse description A large upright trident, its three tines pointing upward, dominates the central field of the reverse; the tines are rendered with pronounced detail and the shaft terminates at the base in a distinctive anchor-like crossbar with curling flukes. The ethnic inscription ΡΑΥΚΙΟΝ is distributed in retrograde Greek letters around the trident in the surrounding field, reading from right to left. The composition is bold and schematic, consistent with the local Cretan civic coinage tradition of the late Classical to early Hellenistic period.
