| Obverse description | A nude male figure, possibly a deity or hero, rendered in dynamic kneeling-running pose (knielauf) facing right, the body shown in three-quarter view with musculature finely detailed in the archaic Greek artistic tradition. The figure holds an indistinct object in his outstretched hands, with drapery suggested at the shoulder. A tunny fish (tuna), the civic emblem of Kyzikos, appears in the lower field below the figure, serving as the characteristic identifying symbol of this mint. The design is set within a plain circular border on a smooth, slightly convex flan of pale electrum. |
