| Reverse description | A thunderbolt of Zeus depicted frontally and in high relief at the centre of a shallow incuse square, its central shaft rising into a feathered finial rendered with striated detail. Two large symmetrical volutes (spiral scrolls) flank the upper portion of the thunderbolt, while a pair of curved wings or flame-like projections emerge from the lower section, giving the device a balanced, heraldic composition. The retrograde archaic Greek letters F (digamma) and A (alpha) appear in the field to the left and right respectively, likely representing an abbreviated ethnic or magistrate's name associated with the sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia. The incuse field surrounding the device is finely granulated. |
