背面描述 Incuse square divided into four triangular compartments by raised diagonals meeting at the centre, forming a windmill or quadripartite pattern characteristic of early archaic Greek coinage. The incuse is deeply struck with a pronounced mill-sail design, each triangular section alternately raised and recessed, creating a bold geometric effect. The square punch sits centrally within the irregular flan, with the surrounding silver surface left rough and unworked. No inscription or legend is present. This reverse type is consistent with the early monetary production of Thera in the late sixth century BC.

附加信息

Thera — modern Santorini — was a Spartan colony, and its coinage reflects that Dorian heritage in both fabric and type. The island sits on the rim of one of the ancient Mediterranean's most catastrophic volcanic calderas, though by the Archaic period it had long been inhabited and commercially active enough to warrant a civic silver issue. Staters from Thera are genuinely scarce; the polis was never a major commercial power, and production was limited. The references here — HGC, Nanteuil, and Weber — all treat this type as a rare survivor rather than a routine archaic issue.
