Reverse description An amphora with double handles depicted at center in high relief, flanked to the left by a caduceus (kerykeion) with entwined serpents and to the right by the ethnic inscription. Below the amphora's base, the letters Θ (theta) and Ε (epsilon) appear in the lower field on either side, constituting the abbreviated ethnic of Thebes (ΘΕ). Two pellets appear above the amphora handles. The reverse is struck within a shallow incuse square, consistent with early classical Greek hammered coinage technique.
