| Reverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, rendered in the classical style with fine facial detail. Behind the neck guard of the helmet, a small figure of Hermes is depicted kneeling to the right, fastening or adjusting his sandal — a distinctive and charming secondary device associated with this Leukadian series. The field is otherwise plain, and the composition reflects the refined die-cutting characteristic of northwestern Greek coinage of the early Hellenistic period. |
