Obverse description Herakles depicted in full frontal stance, nude, holding a club in one hand and a bow in the other, with a lion skin draped over his arm. A serpent coiled to the right appears in the left field, while the tree of the Hesperides occupies the right field. The composition reflects the Cretan artistic tradition of the late Classical period, rendered in bold relief characteristic of hammered coinage.
