背面描述 Helmeted head of Athena facing left, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, with finely rendered facial features in the Classical tradition. An amphora appears in the field behind the goddess, serving as a civic symbol or control mark. The inscription ΛY appears below the neck truncation, identifying the issuing authority of Thyrrheion in Akarnania. The reverse die style is consistent with other Akarnanin League issues of the early Hellenistic period.

附加信息

Thyrrheion was an Akarnanian city that gained political prominence during the fourth century BC, becoming one of the leading members of the Akarnanian League. The League's federal structure was unusual for its time — member poleis retained local coinage rights while participating in collective military and diplomatic decisions, which is precisely why a relatively minor inland settlement like Thyrrheion could produce silver staters of this weight standard at all.

The BCD Akarnania reference traces to the collection assembled by a single anonymous European collector whose systematic acquisition of Akarnanian material remains the definitive die-study resource for the region.
