Obverse description A cow recumbent to left, her head turned back to the right as she licks her left flank. The animal is rendered with naturalistic detail characteristic of the finest Euboian engraving, the musculature and posture carefully observed. The design occupies the full field of the flan with no legend or border.

Reverse description Facing right, the head of the nymph Euboia, the eponymous deity of the island, depicted in three-quarter profile. Her hair is elaborately rolled and gathered, and she wears a ring-shaped annular earring. The ethnic inscription ΕΥΒ appears in the field, serving as the abbreviated legend identifying the issuing authority. The portrait displays the refined Archaic-to-Classical transitional style typical of Chalcidian and Euboian coinage of the fourth century BC.
