Obverse description Poseidon, nude and striding vigorously to the right, raises his right arm to hurl a trident held aloft; his chlamys billows behind him, draped over his extended left arm. The god is depicted in a dynamic, high-relief style characteristic of Magna Graecian engraving of the early fourth century BC. A small epsilon (E) appears in the upper right field, likely serving as a die or magistrate control mark. The figure stands on a faint ground line, with the muscular anatomy rendered with considerable artistic skill.
