| Reverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing left, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, revealing finely modelled facial features with a straight nose and slightly parted lips. The bowl of the helmet is large and plain, with a prominent cheekpiece. Flowing locks of hair emerge from beneath the helmet, rendered as a mass of wavy strands cascading down the neck. The letter Α appears in the field to the right of the neck, serving as a secondary control mark. The portrait is executed in the vigorous, plastic style characteristic of Corinthian coinage of the later fourth century BC. |
