| Obverse description | The prow of a war galley advances to the right, its fighting platform (epotis) prominently rendered and adorned with a crouching lion at bay facing right. An eight-pointed star appears in the right field, while below the prow a ketos (sea-monster) swims right above stylized wave lines. The design is boldly rendered in high relief, characteristic of Lycian-region mint craftsmanship of the fourth century BC. |
