Obverse description Bust of the hunter Aktaion facing left, his brow surmounted by a stag's antler, rendered in fine archaic relief characteristic of Kyzikene coinage. Beneath the principal figure, a tunny fish swims to the left, serving as the civic badge of Kyzikos and acting as an identifying symbol in the lower field. The portraiture displays strong sculptural modelling with attention to facial detail, consistent with the high artistic standards of fifth-century Ionian die-cutters.
