| Obverse description | Facing right, the effigy of Hera rendered as a youthful female head in three-quarter relief, her long wavy hair falling loosely about her neck. She is crowned with a stephane — a broad diadem — ornamented with a central palmette motif, executed in the fine Greek artistic tradition of the early Classical period. The modelling of the facial features is naturalistic and accomplished, with a smooth cheek, almond-shaped eye, and subtly parted lips. Three pellets are visible in the field to the right of the face, likely serving as a control or die-mark. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hand-struck Greek silver coinage of this period. |
