| Opis rewersu | Incuse square of irregular form, deeply recessed into the flan, divided into compartments by raised ridges creating a mill-sail or quadripartite pattern. Within the incuse, a prominent raised triangular or trapezoidal element occupies the central field, characteristic of the early archaic incuse technique employed at Kaunos. The surface of the incuse is rough and granular, consistent with the archaic hammered fabric of the period. No legend or additional device is present. This type of reverse is typical of early Karian civic issues of the late sixth to early fifth century BC. |
