| Obverse description | Pegasos in flying gallop to the right, rendered with fine detail in the characteristic Ambrakian style; the winged horse displays articulated feathering on the near wing and a carefully modelled musculature. The letter Alpha (Α), the city abbreviation for Ambrakia, appears prominently in the lower field beneath the body of Pegasos. The flan is broad and irregular, typical of early fourth-century BC Corinthian-tradition coinage. |
