| 背面描述 | Deep incuse square of mill-sail or quadripartite type, divided by a bold raised horizontal line into two registers, with a further vertical division creating four compartments in the manner typical of early Archaic Carian coinage. The letter san or archaic sigma (И), a letter of the early Greek alphabet, appears within one of the upper compartments. The incuse punch shows irregular tool marks consistent with hand-struck hammered technique of the late sixth to early fifth century BC. |

Mylasa, a Carian inland city positioned along trade routes connecting the Aegean coast to the Anatolian interior, produced coinage during a period when the region operated under Achaemenid Persian suzerainty following Cyrus's conquest of Lydia in 547 BC. The city retained enough local autonomy to strike its own silver, though Persian administrative pressure shaped the weight standards adopted across Caria during these decades.
The Mylasan stater series is poorly documented in terms of specific magistrates or issuing authorities, which is characteristic of early Carian civic coinage broadly. The Weber and Lockett references both treat this type as among the earliest identifiable Mylasan issues.
