Obverse description Pegasos depicted in full flight to the left, rendered in high relief with boldly spread wings and forelegs extended in a dynamic galloping pose. The musculature of the winged horse is modelled with considerable skill, reflecting the accomplished die-cutting tradition of Akarnanian coinage. A small circular control mark (the letter Theta, Θ) appears in the lower field beneath the creature. The overall composition fills the flan with vigour, characteristic of Corinthian-type staters and their Western Greek derivatives.
