| Obverse description | The infant Heracles and his twin Iphicles depicted as young male figures kneeling in opposite directions — Heracles to the left and Iphicles to the right — each grappling with a serpent sent by Hera. The dynamic composition fills the flan with vigorous figural action rendered in high relief, characteristic of the accomplished die-cutting tradition of Kyzikos. In the lower field, a tunny fish (the civic badge of Kyzikos) swims to the left, serving as the mint's standard type indicator. No legend appears; the design is entirely pictorial. |
