Obverse description Draped bust of a female divinity, identified by some authorities as Persephone, rendered in three-quarter left-facing profile. The hair is elaborately dressed and crowned with a wreath of grain ears, consistent with chthonic and agricultural iconography. A triple-pendant earring adorns the ear, and a pearl necklace encircles the neck. The portraiture reflects the refined Classicizing style of Cretan die engravers of the mid-fourth century BC, with carefully modeled facial features and delicate surface treatment.
