背面描述	The hero Ajax strides vigorously to the right in a martial pose, armed with a large oval shield whose interior displays a palmette and griffin as shield devices. Below the figure, a bent or broken spear lies on the ground line, referencing the Homeric tradition. The ethnic inscription OΠONTIΩN appears in Greek letters within the field, identifying the issuing city of Opous. The composition is boldly executed in the high Classical manner, with strong relief and dynamic movement characteristic of Lokrian coinage of the mid-fourth century BC.
