背面描述 Athena Alkidemos striding vigorously to the right, her left arm bearing a large round shield and her right arm raised and extended forward in the act of hurling a spear. The ethnic inscription ΘΥΡΡΕΙΩΝ runs downward along the right field, identifying the issuing city of Thyrrheion in Akarnania. The legend ΛE-ΩN is disposed across the upper field, likely denoting a magistrate's name, while a monogram and the two-line inscription [ΦA]TNI [AΔ]A appear to the left. A club symbol is placed to the right of the main figure, serving as an additional control mark.

附加信息

Thyrrheion was a secondary Akarnanian polis that gained its most significant political weight during the Macedonian period, when the Akarnanian League served as a buffer state repeatedly courted by competing powers. By the time these staters were struck in the late 2nd to early 1st century BC, the League was operating under Roman oversight following the settlement of mainland Greece, and autonomous silver coinage from Akarnanian cities had become increasingly rare. The narrow issue window — roughly eight years — likely reflects Roman tolerance for local civic coinage rather than any sustained minting program.
