Stater

Selge was among the most fiercely independent cities of Pisidia, resisting Macedonian expansion well after Alexander had swept through Anatolia — the city reportedly bought off his general rather than submit to siege. Its coinage, produced continuously from the fifth century into the Hellenistic period, reflects that isolation: the types remained archaic and locally specific long after neighboring mints had adapted to broader Greek conventions. This stater belongs to the earlier phase of that sequence, predating the disruptions of the 330s.
