Obverse description Pegasos in full flight to left, with outstretched wings rendered in fine detail, forelegs raised and hindquarters powerful in typical Corinthian style. The winged horse is depicted with naturalistic musculature, its tail curved gracefully downward. In the lower field below the body, the city-letter Α (Alpha) serves as the mint control mark identifying the issuing city of Ambracia. The composition fills the flan with confident, high-relief die work characteristic of the Ambracian mint of the early fourth century BC.
