Obverse description Head of Hera facing right, wearing a plain diadem or stephane over wavy hair arranged in loose locks falling to the neck, with a small floral ornament visible above the brow. The facial features are rendered in fine fourth-century Greek style, with a serene, idealized profile. The letters F and A (digamma and alpha, representing the ethnic FA for Elis) appear in the lower field, flanking the neck. The modeling of the hair and face reflects the accomplished die-cutting associated with the Elean 'Hera' mint series.
