Obverse description The obverse features a rich panoramic composite view of Jerusalem across the ages, depicting landmarks of the Old City including the Dome of the Rock, city walls, a menorah, and various historic and modern structures in high relief. The numeral "3000" appears prominently in the center field, with the Hebrew legend "ירושלים עיר דוד" (Jerusalem City of David) below it. The trilingual legend "Jerusalem City of David" in English and Arabic curves along the upper circumference.

Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed relief reproduction of the mosaic depiction of King David as a harpist, derived from the ancient synagogue floor at Gaza, shown in Byzantine style with a halo and playing a large lyre. Along the lower circumference appears the Paleo-Hebrew inscription from the Tel Dan Stele "• ΒΥΤDVD •" (House of David). The Hebrew legend "ויקרא לה עיר דוד" and its English translation "He Called it the City of David" curve along the left and right circumference respectively, with the biblical source "שמואל ב" / "2 Samuel" at the upper border.
