| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed relief reproduction of the mosaic depiction of King David as a harpist, derived from the ancient synagogue floor at Gaza, shown in Byzantine style with a halo and playing a large lyre. Along the lower circumference appears the Paleo-Hebrew inscription from the Tel Dan Stele "• ΒΥΤDVD •" (House of David). The Hebrew legend "ויקרא לה עיר דוד" and its English translation "He Called it the City of David" curve along the left and right circumference respectively, with the biblical source "שמואל ב" / "2 Samuel" at the upper border. |
