Obverse description The obverse depicts a detailed relief of the Adas Israel synagogue in Nuremberg, shown in high relief with elaborate Moorish-Revival architectural elements including arched windows and a rose window. Flames rise dramatically around the building in the field to either side, while a Star of David surmounts the roofline, symbolizing the eternal survival of the Jewish people.
