Obverse description Central medallion features the effigy of Saint Stephen (Szent István), first King of Hungary, inscribed with STEPHANUS REX, surrounded by a dotted border and the circular legend. A royal crown with cross is depicted at the top, flanked by decorative scrollwork, and the Árpádian cross section of the Hungarian coat of arms appears at the bottom. Six relief representations of early Hungarian medieval coins are arranged around the central medallion in the field.
