| Obverse description | Frontal enthroned effigy of Prince Vladimir the Great, rendered in a hieratic Byzantine-influenced style, seated on a high-backed throne with feet resting on a suppedaneum. The prince wears a jewelled crown adorned with pendilia and holds a long sceptre topped with a cross in his left hand; his right hand rests on his knee. The figure is surrounded by a dotted inner border, with the Cyrillic legend ВЛАДИМИРЪ disposed around the field. The hammered flan exhibits characteristic irregular contour and areas of cuprite patination. |
