Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic religious inscription in relief, struck on an irregularly shaped square flan typical of Wattasid hammered coinage. The legends are arranged in horizontal registers across the face of the coin, with the script rendered in a somewhat crude but legible hand consistent with provincial mint production. The flan shows characteristic surface irregularities and slight warping inherent to hand-hammered square dirhams of this period. No figurative imagery is present, the design consisting entirely of calligraphic text in the Arabic script.
Obverse script Arabic
Obverse lettering الحمد لله رب العالمين
