| Obverse description | Square hammered flan bearing a three-line Arabic Kufic-style legend filling the field. The Shahada inscription reads 'La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasul Allah' (There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God), arranged in horizontal lines across the face. The legend is rendered in raised relief against a flat field, with no decorative border visible on this side. The irregular flan edges are characteristic of the hand-struck Nasrid coinage of Granada. |
